The Security of The Tunisian Academic Cyberspace

April 18 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm UTC+0

This is an 8th in a series of workshops co-organized by CCK and ICANN, with the objective of engaging with the Tunisian academic community and educating them on the Internet Governance ecosystem with a focus on ICANN’s work and the Internet’s Unique Identifiers. These workshops are envisioned to complement information delivered as part of the academic curriculum, and to give a sense of how knowledge gained from textbooks looks in real life.

This 8th workshop will be organized under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It will have as a main theme the security of the Tunisian academic cyberspace and Following the opening ceremony and presentation of CCK, five lectures are programmed. First, Fahd Batayneh, Stakeholder Engagement Manager – Middle East, ICANN, will start by providing a brief tutorial on the various aspects of Internet Governance and the role of ICANN in the Global Ecosystem. The second lecture is the workshop flagship presentation, which will be given by David Piscetello, VP of Security and ICT Coordinator, ICANN. The speaker will look at the timelines associated with prevalent cybercrime and cyber-attack investigations: who participates and how, what challenges investigators face, what is effective and what is not, and what we might change to more effectively investigate and mitigate illicit cyber activities. This will be followed by three short lectures addressing, respectively, the security of the National Research and Education Network, the Tunisian cyberspace, and the Tunisian digital services.

The workshop will be concluded with a panel animated by representatives from CCK, ICANN, ANSI, ANCE, and ATI, with the objective of discussing various issues related to the national research and education network and the Internet ecosystem, with the objective of articulating recommendations to strengthen the security of our academic cyberspace and the Tunisian cyberspace and digital services at large.
